Who are we.....
How did we begin?
After many years of talking about starting an online retail store with my husband, I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and just do it. Let's be honest it's so easy in life to put things off, you can always find a reason or an excuse to hide behind (while in my case anyway).
For me, these excuses stemmed from fear more than anything else-fear of failure, fear of putting myself out there in the public arena and as a stay at home mum to my two lovely boys Otis and Alex I was also worried about finding the time.
Lulu Violet came about after rediscovering my love for alternative clothes and shoes after being a stay at home mum for 4 years. As an avid online shopper, I was finding gorgeous clothes from NZ retailers but felt like there was a bit of a gap in NZ online retail for alternative shoes and clothing from the brands that I personally love wearing (TUKs, Sourpuss, Liquorbrand, etc). I have been a big lover of TUK shoes and Sourpuss clothing for many years, Liquorbrand I discovered in the last few years but wow their stuff is next level.
Where did the name come from?
As I discovered when trying to name our store there are a lot of Lulus out there in online retail but I was determined to keep the Lulu name as it is a nickname that I have grown up with and is special to me (I get called Lisa Lu, Lulu Bells or Lulu by my family).
Violet is my birth month flower and combining the two kept it personal to me, I didn't want to use a name for our online store that had no meaning.
A bit about me...
My name is Lisa, I am a stay at home mum to two young boys, I have a 4-year-old and an almost 2-year-old who keep me pretty busy. I have been a full-time stay at home mum since our eldest was born, being a mum has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life but so rewarding and now I am taking on a new challenge. I love shoes, clothes, tattoos, online shopping and music amongst many other things. We are new to the whole online retail biz so we are still finding our way and learning a lot as we go, we hope people love our products as much as we do.
